1. What Azitrox is and what it is used for
Azitrox is an antibiotic indicated for the treatment and prevention of infections. It belongs to the class
macrolide antibiotics, called azalides. It is effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria that can
cause infections.
The medicine can be used to treat the following infections:
– upper respiratory tract infections: bacterial infections of the pharynx, tonsils,
adjacent nasal sinuses and middle ear;
– lower respiratory tract infections: infections of the bronchi and lungs;
– skin and soft tissue infections: moderate acne vulgaris, erythema migrans (first phase of
Lyme disease – possible infection following a bite caused by an infected tick), erysipelas,
bacterial vesicular dermatological disease and secondary suppurative dermatological infections .
2. What you need to know before you use Azitrox
Do not take Azitrox
– if you are allergic to azithromycin, other macrolides or any of the other ingredients
of this medicine (listed in section 6);
– if the patient is a child with a body weight below 25 kg.
– if you have severe liver damage.
Warnings and precautions
Before taking Azitrox, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
In the case of this pharmaceutical form, the medicine is intended for children over 6 years of age.
Tell your doctor before you start using this medicine:
– if you have liver problems : your doctor may need to
monitor your liver function or interrupt your treatment.

– if you have kidney problems;
– if you develop diarrhea or notice other signs of infection during treatment;
– if you have low levels of potassium or magnesium in your blood ;
– if you have had heart rhythm disorders : abnormal heartbeat (ventricular arrhythmia), decreased
heart rate (bradycardia ), history of long QT syndrome (in
especially if you are a woman or an elderly person);
– if you have myasthenia gravis.
The drug should be administered with caution to patients with mild to moderate impairment of
liver.
Azitrox with other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines.

Antacids decrease the rate of absorption of azithromycin, therefore azithromycin should be administered with 1
hour before or 2 hours after taking antacids.
This medicine should not be used concomitantly with ergot derivatives, e.g. ergotamine,

itching of the limbs, muscle cramps and gangrene of the hands and feet as a result of
